Effective marketing has and will continue to constantly evolve. It used to be that everyone read the daily newspaper where businesses’ ads were placed- now most people ignore the paper and scroll through their social media newsfeeds. So how do you use social media for marketing? Facebook alone has over 728 million active users, and twitter and instagram both have over 300 million active users. Social Media marketing is one of the best ways to get more business. It can seem very overwhelming at first, but with time and consistency you will see success.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. This is how you effectively use social media for marketing.

Here’s what we mean by that: Lather: Establish a goal that you would like social media to help you achieve. This can be anything from getting more website traffic, to getting 500 new “likes” in a month. Without a goal, it will be much harder to see the ROI on social media marketing. Rinse: Run with it. If your goal is to get 500 new “likes” in a month, brainstorm ideas to help you get there. You can do product giveaways. This is a hot trend right now – if you “like” and “share” a page you will be entered into a drawing to win a certain product. If your goal is to get more website traffic, you will want to gain a loyal following on your social media accounts so that you can post about your website and in turn, gain more website traffic. Whatever your goal is, it is attainable but not without consistency. Repeat: This one speaks for itself – Consider your objectives, establish a goal, post on your social media accounts, and over time you will see results.

This is the very basics of social media marketing. If you want to see better results, you must interact with your social media following. If you get a comment on one of your posts, respond to it! If someone leaves you a review, whether it’s positive or negative, people like to see your feedback. This alone will greatly impact your image on social media. You must be an active business on social media. If a user goes to your business page, they need to see that you are actively posting, and not just a deadbeat. If you haven’t posted in three months, how are they supposed to know that you are still in business? They want to see what you tweeted about yesterday, they want to see the photos of your big event last week. It may seem like no big deal, but it is. Now let’s get down to the nitty gritty… Advertising on social media. You can do this yourself by posting ads on your business page, but the chances of people actually seeing it are slim. You can pay Facebook to promote your ad so that many more people will see it. This may be something to consider.

If you are still reading this, it is probably because you are looking for ways to promote your business.
